The Portorož Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica is a member of the University of Primorska and the first faculty in Slovenia to teach tourism from a multidisciplinary perspective, with a strong focus on sustainable development, a mission it has pursued for more than 30 years. The knowledge developed and delivered at Turistica in Portorož equips students with the essential competencies required to work in tourism and tourism-related fields. We offer education at all three levels of study. The Faculty is embedded in a broad international network of educational institutions worldwide. Its dynamic international engagement provides students and staff with numerous opportunities for knowledge exchange, travel, visiting lectureships, and research across the globe. The study programmes are designed so that theoretical knowledge is closely integrated with practical experience already during the course of study. In addition to academic activities, Turistica hosts a wide range of other initiatives that have firmly established the Faculty both nationally and internationally. These include research and development projects, the international scientific journal for tourism and innovation Academica Turistica, the biennial international tourism conference Encuentros, expert round tables on the future of tourism FuTuristica, and the travel photography exhibition gallery AvanTuristica.
