Lecture Hall 001 (Groundfloor), Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica
On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of tourism in the Municipality of Piran and World Tourism Day, we invite you to a forum titled Tourism that Gives Back to People and the Destination – a discussion with guests from Greece, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia (Towards Inclusive Regenerative Tourism: How Tourism Gives Back to People and the Planet?). The conference will explore how tourism can move beyond sustainability and become truly regenerative – creating systems that give back more to communities and nature than they take. This year’s main theme, set by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), emphasizes inclusivity and responsibility towards the planet, while aligning with European Union strategies for developing regenerative tourism. Together with researchers, industry stakeholders, and decision-makers, we will discuss innovative practices that connect people, nature, and tourism to build a shared future of prosperity.
We especially invite local tourism providers to join us and share their thoughts, experiences, and good practices. Your perspective is essential for co-creating pathways toward more inclusive and regenerative tourism. The conference will also provide an opportunity for open discussion, exchange of ideas, and building new collaborations. Together, we are already creating and sharing regenerative tourism experiences – and this event will further strengthen our shared vision for a future that gives back to people and the planet.
