Why study tourism at UP FTŠ Turistica?

5 reasons to study tourism at UP Faculty of Tourism Studies - Turistica

1. THE 25-YEAR-OLD TRADITION OF KNOWLEDGE

At Turistica, we have been training young staff in the field of tourism and related activities since 1995. Thus, we have been implementing the European vision of modern tourism education for 25 years. We use knowledge from the fields of economics, ecology, and social sciences to direct tourism towards sustainable development. In this way, we contribute to the knowledge society, to innovative solutions in tourism, to the sustainable development of destinations, and to the coexistence of cultures.

2. STUDY TOURISM AT THREE LOCATIONS

The faculty is located in Portorož, in the most developed municipality in terms of tourism: Piran, and in addition to the studies, it offers many extracurricular activities, from student internships, summer work, or entertainment. You will study in a pleasant Mediterranean setting, where tourism is a part of everyday life, and you will feel the heartbeat of the tourist and business environment already during your studies. Lifelong friendships and business connections are built here. In addition to Portorož, the study process is also carried out in Ljubljana (Tourism Destination Management, part-time study) and in Maribor (Tourism Enterprise Management - 2nd and 3rd year).

3. ELECTIVITY FROM GRADUATE TO DOCTORATE STUDY

Faculty of Tourism Studies - Turistica offers study programs on all three levels.

We carry out full-time and part-time study. The undergraduate professional study program Tourism Enterprise Management is carried out also in English: Tourism Enterprise Management.

4. POSSIBILITY OF STUDY AND PROFESSIONAL PLACEMENT ABROAD

Turistica is involved in a broad international network of educational institutions around the world. The vibrant international activity provides students and staff with many opportunities to share knowledge, travel, visit, and explore the world. There is plenty of interest in acquiring additional international knowledge in the field of tourism among students, therefore more and more of them decide for the study exchange and practical placement abroad and thus complete part of regular study obligations at a partner institution abroad (study exchange) or an internship in a company in abroad (practical placement).

5. TOURISM PARTNERSHIPS ARE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EMPLOYMENT

The study is designed in a way that the acquired theoretical knowledge is related to practice already during the studies. Preparation of business plans, project work, case studies, and business projects, visits to hotels, local tourist organizations, visits from tourism companies and organizations, professional excursions to companies, and similar. The knowledge that we develop and present at Turistica provides highly qualified professionals for work in tourism. UP FTŠ Turistica graduates are employed in activities within the tourism sector and tourism-related activities. The high-quality and varied offer of foreign language studies enables our students to compete for job positions, that demand foreign language knowledge and communication skills at home as well as abroad. Specific knowledge meets the requests for job posts in non-profit organizations, administrative bodies, and organizations for the promotion of tourism at the local, regional, and national levels.

The knowledge we develop and hand to our students today, provides competent tourism professionals tomorrow.
