Opportunities for Students with Special Needs

In accordance with the Slovenian Placement of Children with Special Needs Act (ZUOPP-1) (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 58/2011), students with special needs are those facing specific life circumstances or health conditions, such as long-term or chronic illnesses, learning difficulties in specific areas, emotional or behavioural disorders, speech and language impairments, hearing or visual impairments, or physical disabilities. To help them successfully overcome barriers, various forms of support and study adjustments are provided within both the study process and the study environment.

The Rules on Students with Special Needs at the University of Primorska define, among other things, who is eligible for student status with special needs, what types of study adjustments are available, and the rights granted to students with this status.

To obtain the status of a student with special needs, students should read the Rules and complete the attached Application Form for Obtaining the Status of a Student with Special Needs. Together with the required supporting documents, the application must be submitted to the Faculty Student Affairs Office, after which students should contact their assigned teacher tutor. Once the University of Primorska issues a formal decision granting the status, the tutor and the student will jointly prepare an Individual Study Plan specifying the agreed study adjustments.

Important notice:
Students who already held a special needs status during primary or secondary education must obtain a new decision issued by the University of Primorska for the duration of their undergraduate studies, in accordance with the above-mentioned Rules.

Opportunities for Students with Special Status (Athletes or Artists)

The criteria and procedures for obtaining the status of a student athlete or artist/cultural practitioner are defined in the Rules on the Methods of Completing Study Obligations and Conditions for Transfers for Students with Special Status.

Students wishing to exercise the special educational conditions available to students with special status must complete the Registration Form attached to the Rules and submit it, together with supporting documents, to the Faculty Student Affairs Office.
