The University of Primorska, Faculty Tourism Studies - Turistica, with the presented project stood alongside the other 13 organizations selected among more than 800 applicants within Google.org Impact Challenge for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Google will provide funding and support services to the organizations that presented the best charities to foster an increasingly digital economy, with a focus on the need for social inclusion.
At UP FTŠ Turistica, we believe that the pandemic and technological advancements between rural providers and providers in urban areas will only widen the digital divide. The award-winning LocalsFromZero model that our students and professors have developed with many domestic and foreign partners as part of the UP FTŠ - sTOUdio Turistica program will - now also with Google's support and reach - help rural experience providers take the next step towards digitalization in tourism and become competitive in the market.
"We are building a supportive environment for peripheral tourism and training such tourism providers in digitalization and entrepreneurship. We invite all curious and responsible travelers to create pleasant memories and new friendships in their authentic environment," said assoc. prof. dr. Dejan Križaj, idea leader of the pilot R&D educational program UP FTŠ - sTOUdio Turistica.
