This year we hosted once again a group of tourism students from our partner institution, Stenden University of Applied Sciences from the Netherlands, who visited Piran as part of their study trip. They were welcomed at our faculty by Assist. Prof. Dr. Simon Kerma, the International Office of UP FTŠ Turistica, and Lea Šuligoj, a representative of the Portorož Tourist Board. The visit, focused on the topics of sustainability and destination marketing, included a range of activities—from a morning presentation and expert lecture to field research in Piran and final presentations of solutions to a real-world challenge.
A special feature of this year’s visit was additional online preparation, delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Petra Zabukovec Baruca, who introduced students to key aspects of digital communication of sustainability in Slovenia. This allowed them to gain a better understanding of the local context even before their arrival.
On-site, the students built upon their initial insights through in-depth research, conversations with local stakeholders, and the development of concrete solutions, which they presented at the end of the visit.
The collaboration once again highlighted the value of such international exchanges—for both the students and the hosts.
A heartfelt thank you to all participants. We look forward to future projects!
