  • Turistica — the First Faculty in the World with a Footgolf Hole

UP FTŠ Turistica has become the first faculty in the world to boast an animation footgolf hole, designed specifically for the fun game “Hole in One.” This represents an innovative approach to integrating sports and tourism content into an educational environment, with the aim of encouraging active learning and experiential engagement for students and visitors.

The project is being developed in cooperation with the Footgolf Association of Slovenia and its president, Matija Brodnjak, who actively promotes the development and popularity of footgolf in Slovenia. The presentation was also attended by Matej Mavrič Rožič, former member of the Slovenian national football team, who supports the initiative and the spread of sport-tourism innovations.

The animation hole for the game “Hole in One” was a gift to UP FTŠ Turistica on the occasion of its 30th anniversary from the Footgolf Association of Slovenia and FIFG – the World Footgolf Federation.

What is Footgolf?

Footgolf is a hybrid sport that combines elements of football with the elegance and highly interesting rules of golf, played on golf courses. This year, footgolf players are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the sport being played on eight Slovenian golf courses, featuring 9 or 18 holes, each 53 cm in diameter, with a flag. Currently, footgolf is played in Bovec (18 holes), Velenje (9), Olimje (9), Radenci (18), Ljubljana – Golf Center Stanežiče (9) and Trnovo (18), Šmarje pri Jelšah (9), and Ptuj (18), where the international I Feel Slovenia Footgolf Open tournament is held every year.

Slovenia has an excellent position in the heart of Europe and numerous golf courses distributed across all Slovenian regions, making it a perfect addition to the country’s tourism offerings.
