  • Turistica Receives the 2025 Tourism Excellence Award

At the central ceremony marking this year’s Piran Municipality Day, held on Friday, 10 October 2025, municipal awards were presented to individuals and organizations whose work contributes to the development and recognition of the municipality.

We are proud to announce that the Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica has received the Tourism Excellence Award 2025. The faculty was recognized for 30 years of outstanding education, research, and exceptional contributions to the development of tourism at the local, national, and international levels. In addition to Turistica, the Tourism Excellence Award was also presented to Filip Matjaž, our alumnus and the creative head of Restaurant COB in Portorož, for his exceptional culinary achievements.

The event brought together municipal representatives, award recipients, residents, and guests. The Tourism Excellence Award bestowed upon Turistica affirms our long-standing commitment to quality, collaboration with the community, and the creation of new knowledge for the sustainable development of tourism.

“We accept this recognition with pride, gratitude, and a sense of responsibility. We pledge to continue responsibly educating professionals in the field of tourism, equipping stakeholders of the tourism ecosystem with an awareness of responsible tourism, and creating credible knowledge that must take precedence over the interests of individuals, politics, and capital. We will advocate for the consensual development of tourism that follows the values of knowledge, sustainability, and respect for place and people,” said the Dean of Turistica, Assoc. Prof. Emil Juvan.

On this occasion, we extend our sincere gratitude to all our employees, students, alumni, and partners who have contributed to our success over the past three decades.

Congratulations to all this year’s recipients of the Piran Municipality Awards!
