Third Smart Tourism Academy Project Meeting in Lecce
ERASMUS+ | SMART TOURISM ACADEMY | LECCE, ITALY | 14–15 SEPTEMBER 2026
On 14 - 15 September 2026, partners of the Erasmus+ project SmartTourismAcademy gathered at the University of Salento in Lecce, Italy, for the third project meeting. The meeting was hosted by the Department of Economic Sciences of the University of Salento. This time, UP Faculty of Tourism Studies - Turistica was represented at the meeting by staff member Tadej Rogelja.
The first day focused on reviewing project implementation to date, financial reporting, and coordinating activities for the upcoming project period. At the opening of the meeting, the Italian partners presented the Department of Economic Sciences and selected tourism-related studies and projects developed at the University of Salento. The second day connected the project work with practice through a study visit to Masseria Stali in Caprarica di Lecce, presented as a best-practice example of sustainable tourism. The programme also included a visit to the farm’s olive oil mill, giving partners an opportunity to explore a concrete local example of sustainable tourism practice.
SmartTourismAcademy is a three-year international Erasmus+ project bringing together eight higher education and research organisations from eight European countries. The project supports modern educational approaches in green and regenerative tourism, develops the competences of future tourism professionals, and strengthens cooperation among European higher education institutions in the transition towards a greener, more responsible and innovative tourism sector.
