Exhibition: The Kozjansko Park in Dialogue. Nature - Human - Tourism at Turistica in Portorož.

On Monday, January 29, 2024, Turistica opened the photography exhibition The Kozjansko Park in Dialogue. Nature - Human - Tourism. The exhibition represents a further step in the collaboration between Kozjanski Park and the Chair of Cultural Tourism at the faculty.

The main theme of the exhibition is the analysis of the complex relationship between nature, culture, and humans in protected areas. Kozjanski Park, as one of the largest and oldest protected areas in Slovenia, highlights common interests, especially in the context of tourism in protected areas, sustainability, and responsibility in tourism. Additionally, it focuses on natural and cultural heritage, educating young generations, and finding a balance between conservation, visitation, and learning today.

The exhibition presents nine pairs of photographs of Kozjansko Regional Park, reflecting the complexity of the abovementioned relationship. The visual dialogue was creatively constructed in the daily exchange of individual photographs between the Kozjansko Park institution and Turistica and subsequently supplemented with written connotations. Visitors also have a unique opportunity to enrich the exhibition with their own connotations and opinions. Barbara Ploštajner, representative of the park's Service for nature conservation and nature protection control, emphasized at the opening of the exhibition that the park actively collaborates with various institutions. "The visit of the Chair of Cultural Tourism during the celebration of the Feast of the Kozjansko apple in 2022 marked the beginning of cooperation, which has already proven to be very successful in this short time. Today, we present to you the January dialogue - the dialogue of winter 2024. In the future, we definitely want to open new dialogues that will strengthen cooperation and knowledge," she added.

The exhibition will be on display in the Turistica Hall (ground floor of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, Obala 11a, Portorož) until March 20, 2024. The exhibition was prepared by Dr. Simon Kerma, Barbara Ploštajner, Milka Sinkovič, and Dr. Irena Weber.
