FIRST GROUP OF STUDENTS FROM UP FTŠ TURISTICA SUCCESSFULLY OBTAINED STR CHIA CERTIFICATE IN HOTEL ANALYTICS
On Sunday, 25.2.2024, after several months of preparation, the first group of students in the history of UP FTŠ Turistica successfully passed the STR certification in the field of hotel analytics and thus successfully obtained the CHIA - Certified Hotel Industry Analytics certificate.
The students Petra Klanšek, Sabina Rošer, Kaja Hostnik and Moritz Hötzl achieved an important milestone in the education and career development of promising hotel analysts who, in their search for career opportunities, can now boast the internationally recognized CHIA certificate and title, which ensures a high standard of knowledge of the structure of the hotel industry and opens the door to the world of otherwise difficult to access managerial positions in the financial and commercial departments of international hotel chains. It is an internationally recognised certification that can be an excellent gateway to an international hotel career. STR is the world's leading provider of hotel analytics and knowledge of their reports is becoming the international standard for management careers in the hotel industry.
The students worked under the close supervision of their mentor, Ma. Miha Bratec, an lecturer with extensive international experience in working with sales giants such as booking.com and is also the first certified STR CHIA academic trainer in Slovenia, and with the help of Tomislav Čeh, the former long-time General Manager of Union Hotels in Ljubljana and currently a partner at the international hotel and hospitality agency PKF Hospitality Consulting from Vienna. Čeh, who also acts as a judge for STR in their student competitions, has ensured that the understanding and knowledge of the specifics and modern trends of the hotel business is broadened from a practical point of view.
In addition to the two mentors, thanks are also due to La Fondation pour la Formation Hoteliere (FH), a foundation for advanced training in the hotel industry, which provided funding for the students' preparation and the approach to the certification exam, and to the University of Primorska's GDI UP (Green, Digital & Inclusive UP) project, which enabled Turistica and its students to use STR data analytics for study purposes for a period of three years.
We congratulate the students who have achieved the world-renowned certificate and wish them every success in their career development. And after the first generation of certified new graduates, Turistica will surely ensure successors and a steady flow of qualified staff into the labour market.
