Researchers from the University of Primorska, Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica, together with their international research partners, have received the prestigious Charles R. Goeldner Award for their scientific article On the Importance of Field Studies for Testing Theory-Driven Behavioral Change Interventions in (Sustainable) Tourism. The award is presented annually to the authors of the best scientific article published in the internationally renowned Journal of Travel Research.

The award-winning article is the result of an international research collaboration between:

The Charles R. Goeldner Award is one of the most prestigious international recognitions in the field of tourism research. Each year, it is awarded to the authors of the best scientific article published in the Journal of Travel Research (Impact Factor: 9.7), one of the world's most influential and highly cited academic journals in tourism.

The award-winning article highlights the importance of field studies in testing theory-driven behavioural change interventions in the context of (sustainable) tourism. The authors argue that only by examining the behaviour of tourists and other stakeholders in real-world settings can the effectiveness of measures aimed at encouraging more sustainable behaviour be reliably assessed. Their findings make a significant contribution to the development of evidence-based approaches for designing more effective policies and practices in sustainable tourism.

This prestigious recognition represents an important international acknowledgement of the excellence of the research conducted by the researchers of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica, as well as of their successful collaboration with leading research institutions worldwide. The achievement further strengthens the Faculty's position as an internationally recognised research institution in the field of sustainable tourism.
