Consultation and round table on the use of defensive sprays at UP
On 21 November 2024, a consultation and round table on the use of defensive sprays at the UP took place at the UP Armeria, organized by the UP Student Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janez Mekinc (UP FTŠ Turistica) and the Koper Police.
The event was opened with a lecture on the Use of defensive sprays by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janez Mekinc (UP FTŠ Turistica), followed by a presentation on the use of tear gas canisters for self-defense by a practical expert from the Koper Police - Damjan Sever.
The event answered five key questions:
- 1.What does the legislation say about the possession and use of defensive sprays?
- 2.What types of defensive sprays are there?
- 3.How does tear gas work and what are the signs of intoxication?
- 4.What is the first aid treatment for tear gas poisoning?
- 5.How should tear gas be used correctly and effectively?
Students heard a range of useful information, practical examples and the all-important self-protective behaviors that can be critical to success in preventing physical attacks, i.e. avoiding dangerous situations, events, neighborhoods, streets, etc.
