On Wednesday, 10 January 2024, the third MixUP was opened at UP FTŠ Turistica - a meeting place, a place for discussion and agreements. One of the latter was the selection of the name itself, which brought together UP staff and students in a brainstorming and voting process at the opening of the first one, next to the UP Rector's Office building. The second space is in the Livade 1.0 building, so UP now has a meeting space in each of its municipalities of its operation. The addition of the name at the Portorož location is a name that the space had in the past and respects the Faculty's tradition - mixUP Turisticaffe - this will certainly bring back memories for the Faculty's alumni.
With the opening of the meeting spaces, UP is fully meeting and exceeding the objective of the Medium-Term Development Strategy 2021-2027, i.e. in the framework of the Domestic Internationalisation (12.2. A common point (mixing space) will be created for networking and socialising among students, graduates, employees and members of the local community).
The spaces in Koper and Izola already allow for shorter and more informal meetings, lunch or snack breaks, or even just coffee or tea. The Portorož facility will offer all of the above, providing hot drinks as well as food preparation and (time-limited) refrigerated storage, thus contributing to quality meals for staff and students. It will be open during the opening hours of the Faculty. In addition, the mixUP Turisticaffe is enhanced by its terrace, offering the added charm of studying tourism in a Mediterranean environment during the warmer months.
