"Working in tourism is a sexy job for us," said Petra Stušek, Director of the Ljubljana Tourism Board (Javni zavod Turizem Ljubljana), in the podcast Faces of Tourism. In her conversation with host Ana, Petra shared her professional journey - from high school and university to working for foreign employers and finally to her current position. She explained that Ljubljana Tourism is not just a marketing agency, but primarily a development-oriented organization. They focus on creating and upgrading Ljubljana’s tourism offerings, while also promoting the city worldwide. She emphasized one key message: never rest on your laurels. Petra confidently stated that tourists are not the ones creating crowds in Ljubljana, so concerns about overtourism are unfounded. Interestingly, the United States ranks among the top three countries in terms of tourist arrivals. Did you know that during job interviews, Petra often doesn't even read candidates’ CVs, out of trust in her team? And how would she describe herself? Through shoes. Two different pairs - one for work, and one for leisure.
