  • Faces of Tourism | Dragan Ćulibrk: “I Am a Child of Tourism”

Faces of Tourism (Obrazi turizma) is a podcast created within the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica, University of Primorska. It reveals the stories and experiences of experts and dedicated professionals from the tourism industry. Guests share behind-the-scenes insights into this dynamic field that connects people, cultures, and places. Each episode offers a unique perspective on the world of tourism through personal narratives and valuable experiences.

Dragan Ćulibrk describes himself as a child of tourism. He started out washing dishes and today he is a hotel director. In this episode, we explained how a hotel chain operates, the importance of standards, the work of young people in hospitality, and the structure of guests. He still stands by the claim that their hotel is the best congress hotel in the country. In his opinion, Slovenia could strengthen its place on the hotel map even more if hoteliers started working together instead of each on their own. It is also interesting how staff appearance standards have changed over time. From covering tattoos, we have come to an era where even a long beard is acceptable.

The podcast is hosted by student Ana Šenk. The podcast is in Slovenian language.

The conversation was organized as part of the project Green, Digital and Inclusive University of Primorska (GDI UP).

The project is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
