Turistica Presents Awards and Recognitions to Staff and Students
On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, Turistica held a ceremonial award presentation during its Academic Assembly, recognising staff members and students whose work, achievements, and dedication have made a significant contribution to the faculty’s development and visibility both nationally and internationally.
The Administration Staff Excellence Award 2025 was presented to Julija Švagelj Mežnar, the Teaching Excellence Award to Prof. Dr. Metod Šuligoj, and the Research Excellence Award to Assist. Prof. Dr. Miha Bratec
Among the students, Ana Šenk and Jakob Mlakar received awards for outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities. Awards for exceptional final theses were presented to Alma Zupančič for her master's thesis Diving Tourism: Measures to Encourage Sustainable Tourist Behaviour, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Emil Juvan, PhD (Australia); Ivona Mirić for her bachelor's thesis The Tourism Perspective of Interpreting the 1992–1995 War: The Case of Dark Tourism in Sarajevo, supervised by Prof. Dr. Metod Šuligoj; and David Borša for his bachelor's thesis Museum Cafés in Slovenia, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aleš Gačnik.
Special Student Council awards were also presented to Ema Palamar for outstanding professional work and Lukas Martinjaš for achievements in extracurricular activities.
Through their work, research achievements, teaching excellence, and active involvement in the academic community, the award recipients exemplify the quality, creativity, and dedication that help shape Turistica’s success story.
