Faces of Tourism (Obrazi turizma) is a podcast created within the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica, University of Primorska. It reveals the stories and experiences of experts and dedicated professionals from the tourism industry. Guests share behind-the-scenes insights into this dynamic field that connects people, cultures, and places. Each episode offers a unique perspective on the world of tourism through personal narratives and valuable experiences.
Emil Juvan is the dean of the Faculty of Tourism Studies – Turistica and an associate professor of business and organizational sciences in tourism. His research focuses on the sustainable development of tourism, tourist behavior, and the challenges posed by mass tourism. As he explains, tourism is much more than just travel – it is an industry that opens up numerous career paths, from research to destination development. He emphasizes that the future of tourism lies in integrating sustainable strategies, innovative solutions, and the involvement of local communities. Interestingly, Emil spent a significant part of his academic journey abroad. He earned his PhD in Australia and now passes on his knowledge to new generations of students, actively shaping the future of tourism in Slovenia and beyond.
