ALUMNI MEETUP 2023 – NETWORKING AND CONNECTING WITH THE UP ALUMNI COMMUNITY
On Thursday, 20 April 2023, UP FAMNIT hosted the annual alumni meeting UP 2023 – AlumniMeetUP, which this year was held under the slogan GREEN, DIGITAL AND INCLUSIVE UP: TO ENCOURAGE, CREATE, EXPAND AND ENGAGE WITH THE ALUMNI COMMUNITY.
The Alumni Club of the University of Primorska brings together graduates of the University of Primorska and is an important meeting point for alumni to connect with each other, provide networking opportunities and encourage further professional and personal development, lifelong learning and further research.
At this year's meeting, after the premiere of the video >>> Career Stories of UP Alumni <<<, in which successful UP graduates and alumni presented themselves and shared their stories with us, we had the opportunity to listen to an encouraging speech by the Rector of UP and the first PhD graduate of UP FAMNIT, Prof. Dr. Klavdija Kutnar, then the President of the UP Alumni Club, Associate Prof. Dr. Mirko Prosen, dedicated some meaningful words to us about the importance of developing the alumni community and connecting with students, the wider society and the economy.
This year's main guest, President of the State Council of the Republic of Slovenia and founder of the internationally established Lotrič Metrology group , Mr. Marko Lotrič , shared with us the story of the very beginnings of his career, the ups and downs he faced on the way to success, about professional cooperation with family members, and last but not least, he dedicated something to young people who are just starting their careers meaningful advice and encouraging words.
The stand-up comedian Perica Jerković, a successful Koper resident who now works mainly in Ljubljana, but has also toured in many European countries, provided plenty of laughs, while the music ensemble Osminka, whose members are also former students and graduates of UP, provided full-length entertainment.
The meeting was successfully concluded with a gathering and networking of students, alumni, professors, employees and all the other attendees, who made many new contacts, shared lots of good advice, anecdotes, and words of encouragement, and left with a smile on their faces, new ideas, new hopes and new friendships, all while enjoying some refreshments and music.
