In honour of the 20th anniversary of cooperation with its sister town, representatives from Indianapolis, USA, visited the Municipality of Piran. Cooperation with sister municipalities is very diverse and takes place in the field of education, culture, economy, tourism, sports, and cultural heritage.
As part of the visit, they were greeted on Monday, 6 June, at the official municipal reception by our colleague dr. Miha Lesjak and dr. Irena Weber. On Tuesday, June 7, the representatives visited us also at Turistica, which has also been cooperating with the IUPUI University of Indianapolis for many years; i.e. for the 11th consecutive year in a joint distance course Global Dialogue in Tourism, with many mutual visits by guest lecturers, and through the co-organization of the 9th Sacred Journalneys International Conference to be held in July this year.
Among the representatives, we also hosted Stephanie Leslie, the Director of Study Abroad of the International Department of IUPUI University, and virtually Ian MacIntosh, the Director of International Partnerships. The conversation was focused on future cooperation between IUPUI and UP (signing a university contract, the possibility of exchanging students and staff, and visiting by IUPUI students as part of a professional excursion in 2023).
