Visit of the Delegation of Albanian Ambassador and UAMD at UP
On Thursday, 13 November 2025, we were honoured to host His Excellency Oljan Kanushi, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Slovenia and a delegation of the University "Aleksandër Moisiu" Durrës (Albania) at UP Rector's Office as well as at UP FTŠ Turistica. His Excellency Oljan Kanushi, Prof. Dr. Shkelqim Fortuzi (Rector of UAMD) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sokol Pacukaj (Coordinator for Internationalisation) were first welcomed at the UP Rector's Office by UP representatives: Prof. Klavdija Kutnar (Rector of UP), Prof. Štefko Miklavič (Vice Rector for Research and Development) and Andreja Pobega Bizjak and Žiga Leban from UP's Department of Internationalisation.
At the meeting they identified opportunities and options for networking on academic level between UP and UAMD and streghten the cooperation, with suppoport of His Excellency Oljan Kanushi, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, who visited UP in May laying the grouds for stronger cooperation. After the meeting, both rectors signed a letter of intent, aimed to establish a solid foundation for cooperation in both academic and research fields.
With the aim of taking the first steps toward implementing the signed agreement and establishing cooperation in the field of tourism, the delegation was hosted at UP FTŠ Turistica, where they met with Assoc. Prof. Emil Juvan (Dean) and Prof. Tadeja Jere Jakulin (Vice-Dean for Internationalization). The delegation was introduced to the faculty’s history and structure, research activities, and international projects. The meeting also included a discussion on concrete opportunities for collaboration, such as student and staff exchanges and joint research projects.
Aleksandër Moisiu University of Durrës (UAMD) is the newest public academic institution of the Republic of Albania. The University is located in the ancient city of Durrës. The university was founded on 20 December 2005 and inaugurated in 2006, when more than 1,300 students started classes as of 2 October 2006.Today it has five faculties and about 20,000 students in three study cycles. The University took its name from Austrian-Italian actor Aleksandër Moisiu, who was of Albanian descent. UAMD contionusly aimes to achieve the highest contemporary academic standars both nationally and internationally, while supporting the educational aspirations and achievements of anyone seeking to benefit from higher education.
